Aloho to Sophia Kinsella and I'VE GOT YOUR NUMBER

Imagine Lucy McGillicuddy didn't marry Ricky Ricardo.  Instead, she traveled forward in time to modern London.   I believe she would a character in a Sophia Kinsella book.  Sophia is the best selling British author of contemporary romantic comedy, including the Shopaholic series.    Her newest release is I'VE GOT YOUR NUMBER:

I’ve lost it. :( The only thing in the world I wasn’t supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It’s been in Magnus’s family for three generations. And now the very same day his parents are coming, I’ve lost it. The very same day! Do not hyperventilate, Poppy. Stay positive :) !!

Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect!

Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life.

What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

  1. My cell phone is never charged. So it plays very little in my life.

  2. I hate to admit this but it plays a big part in my life. I never thought I would be one of "those" people who always has their cell phone in their hands but I am. Me turning red!

  3. I have never had a cell phone and have no plans on getting one. I work from home and rarely leave my apartment so I have no need of one. My hubby doesn't have one either but his reasons for not having one are different...he doesn't want to be bothered by anyone when he goes out. If someone is trying to get a hold of him, we have voice mail and they can leave a message and he says if he wants to talk to you, he'll call you back...if he doesn't...you won't get a call...LOL

  4. I don't have the fancy Iphones like a lot of people I know (my one daughter (27) is totally addicted but her sister has one too and of course they're both techno savvy). I do have a keyboard on mine which I love. I have it so I can communicate with my daughters lol. I also text because of them. They come in handy but I'm afraid a lot of times I don't even hear it lol. The best thing is the feeling of safety in case of emergency.

This book sounds like a fun read.

  5. I have a very simple cell phone that I hardly use. I take it with me when I go into town in case I break down.

  6. It plays a small part in my life. It's a very inexpensive phone that we got to use for emergencies. It's nice to know I have one when I'm driving.

  7. I don't have a mobile phone. I don't need one. I'd rather people email me. I do have a land-line for emergencies.

  8. My cell phone doesn't play a big role in my life. It's an older style phone - I've had it for about 4 years. No internet or texting, just a plain old fashioned phone. No land line either.

  11. Sophie Kinsella's books are such a treat to read. I read The Undomestic Goddess and it made me laugh many times. Thankfully, my cell phone does not play a big role in my life. I rarely use it. It's mainly my emergency phone and mostly serves as my watch/alarm clock.

  12. A friend just told me about the shopaholic series.

Never used a cell phone until a year or so ago, when health problems meant I couldn't get to the landline.

  14. I would say that my cell phone does play an important role in my everyday life because for one thing, I don't wear a watch anymore since I can just get the time from my cell phone, and the other thing is, ever since I got a smartphone, I find that I do use its features and wifi on it more than before.
